World Changers Week 2023
World Changers provides hands on mission experiences which assists churches in developing students spiritually.
World Changers is a hands-on mission experience, engaging students in meeting the needs of people in communities across North America. Students are able to put their faith into action by serving others and sharing the gospel.
Their construction projects are mission trips designed specifically for student ministries eager to serve in the capacity of construction missions. World Changers partners with local city agencies and churches to mobilize volunteers needed to help them serve local residents. Participants spend a week serving on crews with students and adults from other churches—completing assignments ranging from painting and roofing to building handicap ramps—all to improve the quality of life for local residents. The goal of serving extends far beyond meeting physical needs. Students are trained through both the Pre-Project Study and Gospel Engagement on how to share the gospel. They have a nightly gathering for worship and teaching from World Changers staff.
Friends of Recovery has been blessed for the last 3 years to have the World Changers spend a week with us to assist with our recovery home renovations.
Day 1
“World Changers” missionaries have arrived. Thank you for entertaining us yesterday at our Meet-N-Greet. Today they quickly removed all of the flooring at Tikvah Home for Men. Thank you Chick-fil-a (Willoughby) for feeding all the troops. Have Hope and Share Hope!
Day 2
This team rocks! Actually, moves gravel, logs and other missionaries. Today started with leveling the walkway (which ended up being the perfect spot for the end of the day team picture). Also completed today was the second coat of gray paint on the block & white trim, relocating brush and finally strategically placing logs for tomorrow’s splitting & stacking. Can anyone find the teams favorite tool? Hint - It is yellow. Two takeaways so far: teamwork gets the jobs done and do everything with a smile. Have Hope and Share Hope!
Day 3
Today was a short worksite day. They still managed to split & stack a forest of firewood, started painting the mud room at Shalom Home and finish the day off spreading many many wheelbarrows of woodchips. Thank you Pastor Vicki and Community of the Holy Spirit Church for feeding the troops. Rest up missionaries, tomorrow is another opportunity to serve. Have Hope and Share Hope!
Day 4
The WC’s spent most of the day off-site blessing one of our staff’s parents. This was an unscheduled project but they still found the time to get it done! They power washed and stained the decks & ramp along with pulling lots of weeds. The homeowners said the WC’s were “angels sent from Heaven.”
Day 5
Today was our last day and they have literally changed our little piece of the world here in Willoughby, Ohio. Accomplished today: new rear steps, wood chips spread for a future swing set area and lots & lots of firewood split/stacked/bench pressed. Thank you Steadfast Home Service/Josh, Tara and team for blessing us with Street Tacos. One of the missionaries shared this was her 11th WC’s year and today was the best meal ever! Thank you Helene for sharing your testimony following lunch. And our troops ended their final day with a trip to Foster’s Ice Cream courtesy of Josh & Tara/Steadfast.
Thank you World Changers for serving us all week. Have Hope and Share Hope!
